2012 Audi TT Price & Review
It’s Audi right on top, as always! The German auto major has revived the senses of car fascinators across the world, yet again; this time with the launch of a scintillating and all-new TT RS model.
Ever since the initial induction of the TT RS concept few years back, Audi has made its portfolio grow from strength to strength – and the truly bold 2012 TT model is perhaps the strongest of them all.
It’s so very arche typical yet predictable with Audi to roll out revamped versions of its best-in-business cars, and the launch of the 2012 TT is just one fine example of that.
And so, the starting place of the 2012 Audi TT equation stays the same; but make no mistake, the formula is all ‘changed’. The 2012 Audi TT is revolutionized beyond excellence and is certainly the best ever in the segment.
With its surprisingly special configuration and utterly economical (and power-packed) performance, it surely supplies a spur to the free-flowing adrenaline of sports-car enthusiasts; I call them auto devotees.
The new Audi TT RS, an affordable substitute to the 911 Turbo ($136,450), is likely to get a base price of around $60,000; which means it’s surely not going to blow a hole in your wallet. But, you can still give it a second thought as the vivacious Volkswagen Golf, viewed as the groundwork of TT RS, will cost you a measly $19,765.
2012 Audi TT Features
Trim Levels, Body Styles, Accessories, and More
Available in a tantalizing two-seater roadster form or as a full-of-life hatchback coupe (2+2), both coming in Prestige or Premium Plus trim levels, the 2012 Audi TT is full of zip and will undoubtedly give its competitors a run for their money.
The body is engineered with style, elegance and excellence. The Premium Plus model featuring blockbuster add-ons automatic rear spoiler; 18-inch wheels supported by summer tires; automatic climate control; fog-lights; automated xenon headlights powered by adaptive technology; rain-sensing wipers; LED day lights; satellite radio; CD/MP3 stereo with nine-speaker output; heated exterior and auto-dimming mirrors; and then some.
And for those who want more, there’s the Prestige model which is blessed with almost all the features needed to strike the fancy of the most demanding car users.
It’s a besotted collection of features. The Prestige trim comes with power wind deflector and soft top; detachable ski bag; roll hoops; rear parking sensors; real-time traffic navigation system; MMI electronic controller with dash-mounting; ultra-advanced leather upholstery; ambient lightings; 12-speaker stereo system; headlight washer; and many more.
Power, Performance and Permanence
The new 2012 Audi TT is proudly powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It backs a punch and provides the TT a dazzling capacity of generating 258 pound-feet torque at a whooping 211 horsepower. The all-wheel drive retains the standard.
The new 2012 Audi TT will showcase a solitary transmission system, dual-clutch six-speed, which gives a superfine medley of automated and manual transmission packages. It works along the lines of a traditional automatic system, though manual operation can also be accessed through shift paddles (or center console) available on the TT’s steering wheel.
A mere 6.3 seconds to cruise all the way from 0 to 60 mph; well, that certainly sounds like an understatement for a transmission system as sublime as this one. Isn’t it? Though scores of rival models in the segment are swift in comparison, there’s still nothing holding back the bold and rugged TT which outshines the rest with its splendid fuel efficiency of 26 mpg in-general (31 mpg on highway and 23 mpg in city).

Interiors and Special Attractions
Audi is celebrated for its unmistakable chic and luxurious interiors; and the all-new 2012 TT is no different. Its beautifully designed interiors surely make a class act. But still, there’s a mixed bowl of reactions and viewpoints when we talk about the suitability of some of the TT’s mountings, accessories and their positioning.
The control pad for the real-time navigation system is embedded on the dashboard – not an ideal approach in any case as it creates a great deal of complication while handling. Operations of the system are not too sound either.
The majority of other controls, however, are straightforward and easy-to-use. The sports-class front seats are rich in comfort and magnificence, though the rear passenger seats are not so.
Space is, however, not an issue here as the rear seats are easily flat-foldable to change a decent 13 cubic-feet space into a roomy 24 cubic-feet hall.
The folding soft top, available in roadster model, is somewhat outmoded for use at present, more because glossy retractable hardtops are in trend now.
Finally, Audi has done a commendable job by retaining clean lines of the TT which are effortlessly flat-foldable to make the back bodywork. For noise-free in-car fun, Audi has provided a glass window and a magnificent multilayer headliner capable of keeping the cabin quiet and padded from the weather.
