Tokyo-based multinational automaker Mitsubishi Motors, has unwrapped the 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse model. Mitsubishi has announced its plans to stop Eclipse production after 2012. In an attempt to memorialize this sad decisive moment in a car’s history, the company is launching a Special Edition (SE) trim package.
2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse, initially unveiled in 1989 was designed specifically for left hand drive traffic markets. This 2 and 4 door family coupe is a sports car with 4 trim levels (GS, GT, SE & SE-V6). The latest 2012 model is conceived as a well-designed and affordable sports car. Both Eclipse Coupe and Eclipse Spyder models are available.

The basic GS model is powered by a standard 2.4-liter engine with the capacity to deliver 20-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. Besides a standard 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive, a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optionally available.
The GT model comes with a standard 3.8-liter engine with the capacity to deliver 17-mpg in the urban roads and 25-mpg on the highways. The model is outfitted with Mitsubishi’s signature sports coupe. The safety features of the new 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder comprise an advanced supplemental restraint system (SRS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), ABS brakes on all wheels, stability control and front chair side-impact airbags.
