Manufactured since 1991, the 4th generation of Lexus GS sedan series, Lexus GS 350 will enter the market in 2013. Unlike its predecessor, the Lexus GS 350 is much more stylish both inside as well as from the exterior while also having a performance driven GS 350 F Sport version available.

The Lexus GS 350 has a new spindle grille with the aim to highlight the stylish “L” badge on the center. The flashy grille is distinct and signals that GS 350 isn’t just another simple and sober luxury sedan modeled in Japan.

Many other new features are somewhat derivative like LED accent lights and side window termination but the overall look is much stylish and awe-inspiring than other models.

The interior features of Lexus GS 350 are ideal for any 5 passenger luxury sedan, with an optional and huge split screen 12.3 inches navigation system. It features a convenient 3 spoke stylish steering wheel with sporty side-view mirrors.

The dashboard has a knob to control the audio and handle the navigation settings, thereby reducing the need of multiple buttons on the dashboard.

The Power Within

Lexus GS 350 has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that features direct injection technology. It produces 306 hp and torque of 277 lb-ft. It comprises of the 6 speed auto transmission that is shifted with the help of a flappy paddle shifter which is fixed on the steering wheel.

Lexus GS 350 gives about 19 miles per gallon when driving on city roads and returns 28 miles per gallon when driving on the highways. The optional 4-wheel-drive system can make the GS 350 capable of driving in all weather conditions but increases the weight by 200 pounds thereby reducing the average fuel consumption to 26 miles per gallon on highway.

GS 350 F Sport Features

The Lexus GS 350 comes with an optional variant having the F-Sport Package that increases the performance with a number of technologies that are designed for improved handling.

Some of them are, the LDHS (Lexus Dynamic Handling System) along with the Dynamic Rear Steering that monitors the speed of the vehicle, the steering direction & the driver inputs, and calculates the finest steering angle.

The Adaptive Suspension system which comes in the F Sport package helps to control the front and the rear wheels and provides swift, sharp and secure driving with an increased and directed response to driver’s actions.

Speaking of the visuals, the GS 350 F Sport includes a further aggressive air intake over the front lower part, an exclusive rear valence, a stylized rear spoiler and the F-Sport mesh grille. The 19-inch wheels with fleshy tires complete the various upgrades that are incorporated in the Lexus GS 350 F Sport.

For customers desiring an extra dosage of luxury, the company offers various GS optional packages like a premium package that includes wipers with rain sensing technology along with ventilated and heated front seats & rear powered sunshade.

The package includes all the features of the premium package along with a number of other features. For audiophiles, a 17 speaker 7.1 channel premium surround sound Mark Levinson audio system is also available.

2013 Lexus GS 350 / GS 350 F-Sport prices are not out as yet, but it will start below the $50,000 mark for the base GS and 2013 Lexus GS 350 F-Sport will be available for around the $60,000 mark.

Last but not the least- Safety

Lexus GS 350 is incorporated with 10 safety airbags which includes knee airbags for the driver and the front passenger. The rear seats will have side airbags which are seat mounted on both the corners. Also, all the four outboard seating positions for occupants are effectively equipped by side curtain airbags for optimum safety..

The Whiplash Injury Lessening seats on the front reduce the void between the headrest and the head of the occupant to help in limiting the excessive movements of the head of the occupant while the car is moving and also helps in decreasing severity of whiplash injuries which generally occur in the accidents that involve collision of rear ends.

Many optional safety packages are available to help in further enhancing the occupant’s safety. These include a dedicated Pre-Collision System (PCS) that uses the DRCC (Dynamic Radar Cruise Control) System which gives early warnings of any upcoming objects, which may result in collision.
