Rs1.1 Crore Mercedes Benz G55 G-Wagen Arrives In India
Mercedes Benz G55 G-Wagen will finally run on the Indian roads. The powerful off roader was recently unveiled at Mumbai’s Juhu Aerodrome. In the late 1970s, the G-Wagen or Gelandewagen, which means cross-country vehicle in German, was designed primarily as a military vehicle. The German automaker has produced and sold more than 200,000 units of the rugged vehicle worldwide. Civilian versions of G-Wagon are extremely popular in the Middle East.
Despite receiving several cosmetic upgrades, Mercedes Benz G55 G-Wagen has retained its original design and classic form. G55 will hit the Indian roads with a 5.5-liter V8 petrol engine. The powerful G-Class vehicle from Mercedes Benz’ stable could generate up to 507bhp of maximum power at 6100rpm and up to 71.4kgm of peak torque at 2750rpm. Touted to be one of the fastest SUVs on the Indian roads, G55 could reach a speed of 100km per hour from nil within 5.5 seconds. The 2.5-tonne giant could easily hit the top speed of 210kph.
The outstanding off roader is packed with a wide array of advanced features. The 5-speed automatic transmission enhances the power of the engine. G55 boasts of a permanent all wheel drive equipped with three lockable differentials. The integrated 4 ETS system of Mercedes Benz distributes torque to the four wheels of the SUV, ensuring a safe ride regardless of the road condition.
The braking system of Mercedes Benz G55 comprises of 350mm disc brakes at the front and 330mm ventilated disc brakes at the rear. The SUVs that will be shipped in India through Completely Built Unit or CBU route will offer standard luxury features. The interior of the G-Class SUV will be adorned with leather upholstery. To give the rugged off roader a scratch resistant body, Mercedes Benz has given G55 a nano particle paint finish.
Bi-Xenon headlights, camera aided rear parking system, rain-sensing wipers and built-in HDD navigation system are some key high-end features of Mercedes Benz G55. Mercedes Tele Aid system, airbags, brake assist, anti-lock braking system and electronic stability control minimize the risk of mishaps. The outstanding COMAND infotainment system of the SUV flaunts six-disc CD/DVD player, 40GB hard drive, memory card reader, Bluetooth, GPS, high-definition digital and satellite radios and Harmon Kardon audio system.
The ex-showroom price of G55 in Mumbai is Rs.1.1 crore.
