Toyota Alphard
Japanese Car maker Toyota to compete against their rivalry Nissan has rolled out model Alphard against Elgrand of the competition. But this MPV (Multi purpose Vehicle) has the perfect aerodynamics in its outer shape and is comfortable for 7 to 8 passengers.
Alphard is available in 3 different models i.e. Alphard G, Alphard V and Alphard Hybrid in 2.4 lts and 3.5 lts gasoline version.
To make it comfortable for 8 passengers to sit it is 1830mm in width, keeping ground clearance of 160mm the over all height inside the car is 1890mm and the total length is 4850mm.
The new concepts like built in toll collection in conjunction to the navigation system helps to pass through toll gate very fast. Also due to its insulated body, special wind shields and window glass it allows minimal solar radiation in the car and because of its newly developed two compressor for Air conditioning helps in reduction of fuel usage, also Alphard is known for its lowest emission quality which is 70% less emission than standard rule given by Japanese Government.
Special sensors are kept at Blind Corners which monitors the vehicles coming from left and right; also specialty is the integration of steering sensor and color CCD camera at rear with voice guidance function helps in reverse.
Also this back guide monitor helps in Lane control system where in the lateral distance between the car and white or yellow line is calculated while driving on freeways, this can give an alarm while the distance is decreased.
Radar cruise control is another facility for the driver where in laser radar sensors and steering keep track of the car’s lane and any preceding vehicle and ensures that a safe distance is maintained in accordance with vehicle speed.
The 2GR-FE engine which is one of the GR series in which the FWD is mounted transverse, with it dual variable valve timing and lifting event allows the optimum fresh inflow of fuel overlapping the timing of exhaust gas.
This engine has dual overhead camshaft. The engine displacement is 3456cc with 6 cylinders and 24 valves; each cylinder has a bore of 94mm and the stroke limited to 83mm. This engine is able to produce 275 Hp at 6200 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm at 4700 rpm.
It has fuel capacity of 65 liters and with electronic fuel injection technology it is able to control the emission. It has 6 speed gear box with T sequential. In all it is a perfect combination of technology for a big family to travel together.
